Well for my money our first gig of the year last Tues was one of the best we've had....ever! I know a few of you didn't quite get Happnin' Boy .... Well Delta Moon & I did....Here you have a young guy who has totally captured the vibe of Son House, J D Short, Mississippi Fred McDowell & some of the other old boys of rural blues. He doesn't slavishly cover their numbers but writes his own & delivers with a passion which is rare.....he brings a refreshing smile to faces in the audience & is totally committed.

I was knocked out by the David Migden Band....what musicians! I can't get enough of Don's bass playing...in my book he's one of the finest bassists on the scene but of course every guy in the band is simply as good as it gets. For those disappointed at not being able to buy Dave's CD "Little Stranger" (I told him off for not having any at the gig!) go to his site www.davidmigden.com & get a copy off there.

And so on to our next gig.....The Incredible Blues Puppies feature some of the most respected names in British Blues....guys that have played with The Yardbirds, Pinetop Perkins, 9 Below Zero, Little Axe, The Big Town Playboys.....I'll stop there but the list goes on. This will be a night of straight blues....yes we do that now & again! All your old favourites T-Bone Walker, Buddy Guy, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Freddie King etc. & some noo toons "in the style of" . So, fine guitar, excellent harp, great rhythm from some veterans of the UK scene.

Danny Kyle has come on a bundle since he last did a short opener for us a couple of years ago. He works regularly with Nicky Moore & this has honed his skill & built his confidence. It's so gratifying to follow someone who first came to the club 10 yrs ago, went to some of the workshops I helped organise with Geoff & Ben & then go on to develop into a fine musician.

Plenty of tables left as I write this so please get your bookings in. Quite a few are surprised they can't get a table a day or so before a gig....I try to squeeze you all in if I can but by booking now you guarantee a good position. I have about 40 or 50 who regularly book for the whole year but that leaves plenty of room for everybody else.
